Mission

The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. Guiding them in their mission are their core values:
  • Focusing on the critical needs of children.
  • Celebrating the diversity of the programs we offer and the staff, volunteers and donors who make them possible.
  • Staying true to our heritage of 38 years of responsible stewardship.
  • Operating with accountability and transparency.

Vision

We believe that when you change a child’s life, you change a family’s, which can change a community, and ultimately the world.

There were no positions available for International Ronald McDonald House Charities That I Could Find.
But Many Ways to Get Involved
I choose Ronald McDonald House because my great-nephew had to have open heart surgery when he was just a week old, and my niece was able to stay at Ronald McDonald House. They are unbelievable how they treat the children and the parents. They are wonderful.

 UNICEF
UNICEF is the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized. They have the global authority to influence decision-makers, and the variety of partners at grassroots level to turn the most innovative ideas into reality.  That makes them unique among world organizations, and unique among those working with the young.
They believe that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress.  UNICEF was created with this purpose in mind – to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path.  They believe that we can, together, advance the cause of humanity.
I choose UNICEF because they help children all over the world. I would like too do some voluntary work in another country working for UNICEF fighting for rights of children.
There were many job opportunity I supplied the link so you can fine what country and position you may be looking for.

 tWorld Forum Foundation
The mission of the World Forum Foundation is to promote an on-going global exchange of ideas on the delivery of quality services for young children in diverse settings.
This mission is accomplished through convening gatherings of early childhood professionals around the world and by promoting the continuing exchange of ideas among participants.
The mission of the World Forum Foundation is accomplished through two types of gatherings of early childhood professionals…
World Forum 2011 inspired, encouraged, and supported the initiation of a Working Group on Children’s Rights.
I choose World Forum Foundation because they bring all groups of people all over the world together for the care of children. One of my goals in life is to attend one of their conferences. This is a dream I pray that will come true.

  1. Hi Alice:

I find the statement in the mission of the George Washington International Preschool interesting in that they felt that the locals in Singapore would benefit from the preschool structure followed in an upscale community of New York. For some reason, I find it a little eurocentric in that it could be interpreted to imply that Western education is superior to Eastern education models. I am sure that is not the intention, I just wondered if others could see the potential in it being seen that way. Maybe I am being too sensitive. At the same time, it does look like an exciting and interesting opportunity to contribute to the education of children in an international setting.

Thank you for sharing the World Forum Foundation with us. I have always thought how amazing it would be to attend this conference as well. I can't imagine how rich the conversations must be as the diverse ideas for serving children and families come together.

  2. Alice,

I had almost totally forgotten about the Ronald McDonald House because I don’t hear a lot about it anymore. I think people tend to forget all the charity work that the McDonald House is doing. I also noted UNICEF as one of my EC roles, in which I found their Voices of Youth website intrigued me. It was nice to see things in perspective through this assignment of locally, nationally, and now globally.

  3. Hi Alice,
I love the Ronald McDonald House and all the charities they are involved in, which are so remarkable. I live in Thailand which is about three or four hours away from Singapore, I think the international schools over here in South east Asia is remarkable. I think you should give it a short if you are planning to try out working and living abroad.

    Joy.

  4. Dear Alice,
Nationwide Children's...is this a charity or a hospital? I thought that the job position looked interesting and tried to look up the site and I got Nationwide Children's Hospital :)
Either way, the chance to develop and coordinate current and existing programs for children is always a rewarding adventure...our constant as EC professionals :)
    Great post choices!

  5. Dear Alice,

As a friend of a child who had cancer, programs like the Ronald McDonald House make it possible for families to receive the care that is so desperately needed. Then looking at how these charities go abroad, and impact countries who are in dire need of medical care. Thank you, for sharing such intentional employment and programs

  6. Alice,

I had a friend of the family daughter to have leukemia and she had to go to the Ronald McDonald House in North Carolina and was there for two years before she was released. I can remember her telling us once she got back how every child on her hall had died and how she was the only one to survive. Till this day she is still fighting with good faith.
I think it is such a good thing how the Ronald McDonald House provide for the families.

    Thanks for sharing your blog!

    Tracey
